Advanced Micro Devices said on Tuesday it had expanded its semiconductor technology alliance with IBM. The expanded alliance would include early exploratory research of new transistor, interconnect, lithography and die-to-package technologies through 2011, it said in a statement.

The agreement lets AMD work with IBM's research division on research and development, electronic materials and feasibility studies three to five years before commercialisation.
