City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has vowed to bring revolutionary change in the life of common man with regard to provision of civic facilities.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Korangi Town Office on Monday, he pledged to resolve gradually all civic problems of the city including encroachment, which could not be resolved over the years. "All the projects including Mass Transit aimed for betterment of the city and were pending for quite long time would be completed soon", he assured.

Mustafa Kamal pointed out poor cleanliness arrangements were giving an ugly look to the city. Efforts had been initiated to bring improvements in that regard.

Work on setting up a garbage transfer station was going on at a fast pace, he said and added it had been decided to resolve the problem of shortage of heavy machinery in the city. The City Government would give two heavy machines to each town in next one month. On water and sewerage, City Nazim said steps on priority basis were being taken to resolve those problems, and water board officials had been directed to take the steps by consulting and co-ordinating with town Nazims in that regard.

He pointed out 33 per cent water go waste due to leakage in distribution network and it had been decided to repair and replace old lines.

"Measures have been initiated on this project, which will cost Rs 2700 million," he added. He emphasised on creating sense of ownership among people and administration for the city and sense of participation for betterment of the city.

Mustafa said it was necessary to upgrade health system to make the efforts of community result-oriented. "Steps are being taken to improve service delivery of all hospitals of city government while hospitals of Landhi and Korangi will be made model hospitals", he added. MPA Amir Moeen, Nazim Korangi Town Arif Khan, Nazim Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town Wasay Jalil and others were also present on the occasion.
