Official sources told Business Recorder on Tuesday that the Federal Government Central Selection Board (CSB-I), in its meeting held on July 5, 2005, had recommended nine officers of the Income Tax group (Grade 20) for promotion in Grade 21.
The officers have been cleared for promotion after the approval of Prime Minister in September 2005. Sources said that notifications are yet to be issued by the CBR. The matter is pending subject to the proceedings in a constitutional petition filed by an income tax officer (Grade 20), who has been superseded thrice. The case has been adjourned by Sindh High Court for hearing on November 24, 2005.
Following are the officers affected: Muhammad Istataat Ali, Chief, CBR; Khawar Khurshid Butt, Commissioner of Income Tax, Zone-B, Lahore; Masood Ali Jamshed, Commissioner of Income Tax, Companies-I, Lahore; Liaquat Ali Khan, Commissioner of Income Tax, Appeals, Peshawar; Bilal Khan, Executive Director, National Insurance Company, Karachi, Muhammad Faiyyaz Khan, Chief, CBR; Liaquat Ali Chaudhry, director NAB, Islamabad; Shahid Azam Khan, Director, Inspection, Karachi; and Nazir Ahmed, Commissioner of Income Tax, Rawalpindi Zone.
