Speaking in the National Assembly on debate on devastating October 8 earthquake, the treasury bench's member appreciated the international aid and relief for the displaced persons.
Fatiyana specially mentioned the aid by the US and said its 40.4-million dollar aid was the biggest contribution from a single country.
He said the people, who survived the disaster, are suffering from constant fear and their self-confidence needs to be restored through counselling and therapy.
He said he visited Muzaffarabad couple of days ago and found that sanitation system had collapsed there and there was urgent need to send sanitary workers in the area from other provinces.
The people in the affected areas, he added, should be provided tin sheets to save them from the harsh winters.
"Tents, though badly needed, cannot save the survivors from the freezing winter who should also be given aid in cash," he said, adding, "the quake-hit areas also need mobile clinics and dispensaries from where medical units should go on foot to the wounded in far off areas."
He said each member of the parliament should `adopt' a village destroyed by the earthquake.
"It does not mean that he should give financial assistance to the whole village, rather he should supervise the process of reconstruction and rehabilitation," Fatiyana said. He also appreciated the Punjab chief minister's idea of 'one family adoption'.
