Problems relating to "darul-aman" in the province came under consideration at the meeting.
In order to improve their management, it was decided that the provincial government would take over administration of four darul amans in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana.
For this purpose Social Welfare department would forward a summary to seek the chief minister's approval.
In the meeting, Social Welfare Secretary, Mehtab Akbar Rashdi highlighted the background of the setting up of darul amans.
In the light of experiences and observations, she emphasised that the facilities, which need to be provided through darul amans, not only warrant an increased budget but also provision of strengthened security, medical care, consultations etc.
The chief secretary observed that steps to be taken for bringing an improvement in the overall management of darul amans are inevitable at the provincial level and a concerted strategy would have to be adopted in this regard.
Provincial Secretary Social Welfare Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, Secretary Finance Malik Israr Hussian, Secretary Home Brigadier Ghulam Mohammed Mohtaram (Retd), Secretary General Administration Abdul Qadir Mangi and other officials attended the meeting. They expressed their commitment to work for initiating full-fledged measures in taking over the management of darul amans.
It was decided that summary would be prepared by Secretary Social Welfare and Additional Secretary Implementation and Co-ordination.
