The Lahore High Court (LHC), while setting aside the detention orders of Allama Ghulam Raza Naqvi, has directed the respondents to release him if he was not required in any other case.

The petitioner counsel contended that the detainee was arrested in different cases in 1998 and was about to be released on the court directions on September 08, 2005 but the respondents refused to release him. The respondent officials issued his detention orders on a fake report against him.

A section officer of Home Department appeared before the court and admitted that he had passed the detention orders on verbal directions of Home Secretary.

The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel and the section officer, set aside the orders of the Home Secretary and ordered to release him.
