Four trucks loaded with more than 9,500 blankets donated by United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) were dispatched to Shangla district on Sunday, says an official handout issued here on Monday.

District Surveillance Officer of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr Mumtaz Ali handed over the relief goods to EDO Shangla, Dr Syed Ali.

The blankets were later on handed over to in charge of Pooran Civil Hospital to be distributed among the quake-affected people of Martong, Kabalgram, Deedal and Kamach villages, situated along the bank of river Indus.

Moreover, the number of injured people has increased to 938 whereas the number of dead officially confirmed has remained 423 out of which 229 family members of the deceased have received a compensation of Rs 0.1 million each.

A total of Rs 22.9 million has been released by the district administration of Shangla to the quake-affected people of the area.
