Chief Election Commissioner has appointed Election Tribunals for trial and disposal of election petitions filed by the aggrieved persons in connection with Local Government Elections-20035(3rd Phase).

In a statement issued here on Friday, Federal Secretary Election Commission Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad drew attention of all concerned to the provisions of Local Government Elections Rules of the Provinces, "no election shall be called in question except by an election petition made by a candidate for that election and that an election petition shall be presented to the Election Tribunal appointed by the Chief Election Commissioner within 30 days of the publication in the official Gazette.

The names of the returned candidates for elections to Zila Councils and Tehsil/Town Councils in all the four provinces of the country have been published on 10th October, 2005 in the official Gazette by the CEC.

As such, election petitions can be filed by the aggrieved persons with the Election Tribunals appointed by the Chief Election Commissioner by 9th November, 2005.
