The bail plea of Muhammad Ramzan Khawaja, an accused in Alliance Investment Company scam was dismissed here on Friday by a division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Azizullah M. Memon.

The bench ordered the trial court to dispose of the bail plea within shortest possible time. The same bench adjourned hearing of a constitutional petition filed by Raza-ur-Rahman, son of Chaudhry Munawar Sindhu, a convict in two references filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The petitioner moved the court stating that his father was sentenced to serve ten years each in the NAB reference. The sentence was reduced to six years each by an appellate bench of SHC and now his father has served the sentence.

When the petition came up for hearing, Additional Advocate General Sindh, Abbas Ali appearing for the state sought time to ascertain the facts from prison authorities.

The bench after this statement by AAG adjourned hearing till November 1.

The same bench dismissed for non-prosecution, a harassment petition filed by Hashim Ali and Noor Muhammad of Mirpur Mathelo against police officials.

AAG Abbas Ali appearing for the state submitted that the petitioners are land grabbers and police was attempting to get government land vacated and no harassment was caused to the petitioners.

As counsel for petitioners was also called absent, the bench dismissed the petition for non-prosecution.
