The Sindh government has prohibited sale and supply of all types of tents to any other person except government department by tent manufacturers for a period of 30 days with immediate effect.

Sindh home department issued an order to this effect here on Thursday. It said "Whereas, it has been made to appear before the provincial government that subsequent to the incident of October 8 earthquake, certain tent manufacturers have been found in sale and supply of tentage to various persons on exorbitant price, thereby causing shortage of supply to the affectees and hampering relief operations.

"And whereas, the government of Sindh is satisfied and convinced that in order to ensure immediate delivery of required quantity of tents to the earthquake affectees, ban on sale and supply of all type of tents to anybody except government department by tent manufacturers is necessary.

"Therefore, in exercise of powers vested under sub section 6 of Section 144 Cr. PC, the government of Sindh do hereby prohibit sale and supply of all type of tents to any other person except government department by tent manufacturers for a period of 30 days with immediate effect.

"All tent manufacturers will henceforth supply the tents to the government departments/agencies only."
