Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has allowed certain exemptions in its current policy regarding reconnection by the industrial consumers drawing electricity from Small Power Producers (SPP).

A spokesman of Wapda said here on Thursday that according to these exemptions, the SPP consumers who apply for reconnection on Wapda system within five years from the date of disconnection will be exempted from payment of differential in security already deposited and the current rate.

In case, the application for reconnection is submitted after five years of disconnection, the applicant will pay 10-percent of differential security deposit due as per prevailing rates for every twelve consecutive months or part thereof beyond five years. This concession will remain valid up to December 31, 2005.

It is pertinent to mention that SPP consumers are also eligible to avail the incentive package for industries which was announced earlier on July 7,this year.
