Provincial Minister for Communication and Works, Chaudhry Zaheer uddin has said that relief measures are being carried out by Punjab government with the co-operation of private sector and 119 more trucks of relief items have been sent to quake-hit areas from various parts of the province.

Talking to media persons at board of revenue here on Thursday, he said 6,080 trucks of relief assistance have so far been sent from Punjab to quake affected areas. Director General Relief, Irfan Elahi was also present on this occasion.

While giving details of the relief items dispatched to the quake affected areas, Irfan Elahi said that 26 trucks of eatables, 11 of tents, 78 of blankets and 4 trucks of medicines were sent to the calamity stricken areas. He further informed them that 2,561 trucks of relief goods have been sent by government sector and 3,229 by private sector and 296 by various government departments.

The minister said that in this hour of distress, the role of private sector is appreciable. He said Chief Minister's 'Support-A-Family' project would further accelerate the pace of rehabilitation of quake affectees. He said Punjab government would continue to help the calamity-stricken people till their complete rehabilitation.
