The Punjab government is continuously dispatching truckloads of relief goods, including food items and medicines to various quake-hit areas. As many as 128 more trucks were sent to the affected areas of Azad Kashmir and NWFP, said Director General Relief Irfan Elahi at a briefing here on Wednesday.

He said besides three trucks carrying relief items sent by different government departments, 15 trucks loaded with tents, 21 of edibles, 85 of blankets and four of medicines were sent to the earthquake-affected areas.

He further said 2991 trucks with food items, 393 of tents, 1925 of blankets and 369 of medicines have been sent to quake-affected areas so far. He said the process of dispatching relief items to the Northern Areas as well as Azad Kashmir was in progress.

Provincial Minister Shuja Khanzada, who also attended the briefing, said the provincial government for providing treatment facilities as well as financial assistance, food and other necessities of life to calamity-stricken areas was taking concrete measures.

He said medicines were being provided to the injured free of cost and 13,000 beds had been allocated in various hospitals of the province for earthquake victims.
