Ministry of Health has nominated one of the leading psychiatrists of Pakistan Professor Dr Haroon Rashid Chaudhry as Incharge of relief services for psychological/psychiatric problems occurring in Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot.

Professor Dr Haroon Rashid Chaudhry will work in co-ordination with WHO National Co-ordinator Professor Dr Rizwan Taj.

First team comprising four mental health professionals has reached Muzaffarabad to provide treatment to mental health patients. This team is managing psychiatric problems emerging among earthquake victims.

World Psychiatric Association and World Federation for Mental Health have already extended their co-operation for organising relief activities in the affected areas.

It may be mentioned Federal Health Minister Naseer Ahmed Khan recently chaired a meeting, which was attended by Professor Rizwan Taj (Islamabad), Professor Khalid Mufti (Peshawar), Professor Musarrat Hussain (Karachi) and Professor Dr Haroon Rashid Chaudhry (Lahore). Federal Health Minister advised the mental health professionals to provide mental health services in quake hit areas on regular basis.
