Punjab University's Department of Mass Communication (DMC) would launch one year Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) programme in Television Communication and Production from December this year. The decision was taken in a meeting of the Board of Studies at the Department of Mass Communication here on Quaid-e-Azam Campus on Tuesday.

Chairman Professor Dr Mughees uddin Sheikh presided over the meeting which was attended by Editor The News Salim Bukhari, In-charge Mass Communication Department of the National University of Modern Languages Islamabad Brigadier Saulat Raza (Retd), columnist Atta-ur-Rehman, Professor Dr Shafique Jallundhri, Dr A.R. Khalid, Dr Mujahid Ali Mansoori, Ms Noshina Saleem, PU TV Manager Khalid Sultan, and Zarqa.

Professor Mughees maintained that TV studio of Mass Communication Department was fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and gadgets that's why a private TV channel preferred to record a programme there.

He said the department was also offering a specialisation in MA electronic media and people already working in the production houses and electronic media channels would be the real beneficiaries of this one-year postgraduate self-supporting (evening) diploma programme. He said that the PGD programme would consists of 3 semesters and 30 credit hours.
