Youm-e-Ali, the day of martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA), was observed here on Wednesday like other parts of the country with religious fervour. A large number of mourners took out processions, Tazia, Alam and Zuljinah from different localities and later formed a main procession, which was taken out from Mubarak Haveli Chowk Nawab Sahib.

The procession marched through traditional route under heavy security and terminated at Karbala Gamey Shah before Maghrib Prayers.

With regard to the day, prominent religious scholars, including Agha Haider Mousvi, while addressing separate Majalis, highlighted the teachings of Hazrat Ali (RA).

They urged the citizens to maintain unity against evil forces and show a spirit of humanity while following the teachings of Hazrat Ali (RA). During his lifetime, the scholars said, Hazrat Ali (RA) had always maintained patience.

While paying homage to Hazrat Ali (RA), the speakers at the Majalis said that he was a man who promoted the cause of Islam under all circumstances and when he received injuries, had advised Muslims not to be divided on the question of his martyrdom.

The law enforcing agencies on the route of processions adopted stringent security measures.
