In a joint statement issued here, President of PFUJ and Chairman APNEC Pervaiz Shaukat, Secretary generals of its two apex bodies Mazhar Abbas and Nasir Chisti respectively said APNS had already reduced number of holidays in a calendar year, but withdrawing two-days Eid holidays would mean that many newspaper employees will have to work even on the Eid day.
They said not only newspapers employees but newspaper hawkers would be worst affected as beside working on the Eid Day, they also have to work on the second day, which means most of them will not get a chance to celebrate Eid with their families.
They said on the one hand the newspaper owners have refused to implement the 7th Wage Award and have deprived the newspaper employees from their legal rights and now they don't even want them to celebrate Eid with their families.
Leaders of two apex bodies asked the newspaper owners to implement the 7th Wage Award and restore two-days holiday for Eid and urged the government to take notice of this situation.
