A ministry statement said farms had harvested 3.445 million ha or 96 percent of a total area of 3.593 million ha. Yields reached a record 1.35 tonne per ha.
The country harvested 3.207 million tonnes bunker weight from 3.272 million ha at the same date last year and yields were at 0.98 tonne per ha.
Farm Minister Alexander Baranivsky said this month Ukraine was likely to boost the sunseed clean weight crop to a record 4.8 million tonnes in 2005 from 3.05 million in 2004.
Analysts have said Ukraine is likely to resume large exports of sunflower seed in the 2005/06 season after a modest sale a season. They said the country could sell abroad about 350,000 tonnes in 2005/06 from 75,000 in 2004/05.
Ukraine exported a record 930,000 tonnes of sunseed in 2003/04, 339,000 in 2002/03 and 82,000 in 2001/02.
MAIZE CROP Ukraine's farmers have harvested 4.337 million tonnes of maize from about 62 percent of the sown area, the farm ministry said on Tuesday. A ministry statement said farms had harvested 1.076 million ha from a total area of 1.733 million. Yields reached 4.03 tonne per ha. The country harvested 4.211 million tonnes from 1.073 million ha at the same date last year.
Yields then totalled 3.92 tonne per ha. Farm Minister Alexander Baranivsky said this month the country was likely to harvest about seven million tonnes of maize in 2005.
UKRAINE SUGAR BEET CROP Ukraine has harvested 13.756 million tonnes of sugar beet so far this year from about 84 percent of the sown area, Farm Ministry said on Tuesday.
A ministry statement showed farms had harvested 558,800 ha from a total area of 665,400 ha. Yields totalled 24.6 tonne per ha. It said 13.127 million tonnes of beet had been supplied to Ukrainian sugar refineries.
The country harvested 15.024 million tonnes from 639,800 ha at the same date last year with yields of 23.5 tonnes. Ukraine sowed 754,000 hectares to beat in 2004.
