  • Comments Off on US MIDDAY: wheat firmer on short covering
Wheat futures on the Chicago Board of Trade were mostly firm early on Tuesday on short covering and disappointing US wheat crop condition ratings, traders said.

As of 10:55 am CDT (1555 GMT), CBOT December wheat was up 1-1/2 cents at $3.24-3/4 per bushel. Deferred months were up 3/4 to 1-1/2 cents. Fimat Futures was an early buyer of 200 December contracts, traders said.

Traders noted floor talk of possible US wheat sales to Iraq, but there was no confirmation of any business. Iraq's deputy prime minister said early this month the country would soon buy 1 million tonnes of US wheat.
