Out of the total donation, Rs 5 million has been contributed to President's Relief Fund and Rs 5 million for Azad Kashmir Prime Minister's Relief Fund for earthquake relief. Furthermore, the employees of NITL have also contributed two-day salary for this noble cause.
MONSANTO FUND: The Monsanto Fund, the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company, has pledged 250,000 dollars to support earthquake relief efforts focused on helping people as they are struggling to recover from the devastation.
A donation of 250,000 dollars has been made to the Friends of the World Food Programme and has been supplemented by two day's worth of salary donated by the employees of Monsanto Pakistan to the President's Relief Fund. The funds will be put to use immediately in relief efforts in Pakistan. The World Food Programme is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against global hunger.
KOREAN RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION: The Korean Residents Association (KRA) in Karachi has announced a contribution of Rs 390,000 for the victims of the earthquake and towards the President's Relief Fund.
Hong-Woo Park, President of KRA in Karachi and Suk-Chul Chang, Consul General in Karachi office of the Korean Embassy met with Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan at the Governor House here on Monday to hand over a donation of Rs 390,000 in cash cheque to the Governor Sindh, expressing their deepest condolences over the death and destruction caused by the tremendous earthquake.
The Korean Consul General told the Governor that his government has made prompt decision already to provide 3 million dollars as relief assistance and rehabilitation fund and a large number of Korean private sectors donated approximately 4.2 million dollars in the form of cash and relief goods, together with ongoing relief and medical activities by 19 teams consisting 240 volunteers.
