The committee, which the senior minister formed on the very next day of the quake comprised the provincial ministers for supervising relief operation in earthquake-affected five districts of NWFP, attended by the Health Minister Inayat Ullah, Food Minister Fazle Rabbani Advocate and Social Welfare Minister Hafiz Hashmat Khan beside others.
Siraj ul-Haq added the government and nation still had to face great challenges ahead in that respect.
While addressing the meeting of the committee about relief activities at Mansehra, senior minister reviewed the performance of committee and made necessary decisions.
It may be noted that Health Minister Inayat Ullah was assigned the operation supervision in Mansehra district. Whereas, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Sardar Muhammad Idrees and Minister for Mineral Development Alhaj Muhammad Ayaz Khan, Minister for Science & technology Hussain Ahmad Kanju and Minister for Revenue Maulana Asmatullah were assigned the supervision of rehabilitation activities in Battagram, Shangla and Kohistan districts respectively.
They were asked to reach the affected districts and start supervising relief operation as well as assessment of the damages immediately. Similarly, other ministers were also directed to co-ordinate with that committee.
The senior minister took stock of the reports of cabinet committee, fixed the estimates in the light of damages and casualties and allocation of funds were discussed in depth. Meanwhile, presiding over a meeting of the district administration at DCO Office Mansehra, the Senior Minister Siraj ul-Haq directed the concerned officials for distribution of compensation amount among the victims in a transparent manner at the earlier. He also asked for close liaison among the federal and provincial governments and army officials to continue relief operation without fail.
Earlier, the senior minister and provincial chief of Jamat-i-Islami Siraj-ul-Haq addressed a meeting at the main base camp of Alkhidmat Foundation (AKF) Mansehra. He directed the volunteers for expanding the network of relief operation and specially focusing on inaccessible areas where relief items could not be provided so for.
The camp Incharge Senator Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khan told that AKF had so far provided 500 trucks of relief goods and established 15 health units for treatment of the injured in affected areas. However, he said that expanding the relief process on vast scale and sustainable grounds was need of the hour due to massive devastation.
