Inayat Begum criticised the ministry for information technology for termination services of the contractual employees of the PTCL.
Awais Leghari negated the allegations saying that an impression has been created that services of PTCL contractual employees are being terminated. The minister said that such reports are false, which had not only spread misunderstanding and unrest among the employees but also damaged the image of the company.
He added that PTCL has regularised the services of around 9000 daily-wages employees, who are now being adjusted against vacant slots in the company.
However, the renewal of the contract employees was always made on case to case basis keeping in view the requirements of the company, the minister added.
Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Nauraiz Shakoor said that National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) was established through an executive resolution notified in the Gazette of Pakistan and the National Assembly had recently passed its conversion into a statutory body.
He said that NIO' s developmental budget is Rs 33.807 million and Rs 23.500 million is the non-developmental budget. Rubina Saadat castigated the policies of the S&T ministry and asked the authorities to give details about the officials who were send abroad.
Nauraiz Shakoor said that four officers were sent for training to Japan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam for workshop on new trends in microelectronics and training course on electronics systems, adding that 30 officers ranging from grades 17 to20 are working in National Institute of Electronics.
Tasneem Ahmad Qureshi was critical of the government's dual policy pertaining to employees of PTV and PBC. As, she added, employees of PTV are entitled to the facility of hiring houses irrespective of period of employment, whereas PBC employees are entitled to this facility after 15 years of service. The MNA demanded to end this discrimination.
Ramesh Lal said that presently there is no PTV Booster in Shahdad Kot District, Sindh and inquired of the minister concerned that if there was any proposal by the government to install a booster in the area.
