Earthquake measuring 5.9 on Richter Scale quivered on late Sunday night those cities of upper Pakistan again that inflicted heavy damage on October 8. Aftershocks were also felt at 0028 PST early Monday in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad besides Mansehra, Abbottabad, Basham, Gilgat, Astore and adjoining areas.

The epicenter of these aftershocks was 100 kilometres north of the federal capital in Hazara Division, which was close to the epicenter of the devastating October 8th earthquake.

No men and material losses as a result of these high-magnitude aftershocks were recorded, but they have caused panic among people.

Officials in the Met Office at Islamabad said that in total 26 aftershocks were recorded on Sunday but except the one recorded at 8.04 pm the other 25 were of below 3 magnitude on the Richter Scale.

The aftershock on Sunday evening was the biggest after the one that recorded on October 8. There was no official confirmation of any damages caused by it till filing of this report but unconfirmed information said there was some damage to infrastructure in Peshawar while there were also reports of collapse of a number of buildings in the previously affected areas both in Azad Kashmir and the NWFP.
