He issued the directive during a presentation made by OGDC at the Prime Minister House, where he was informed that the OGDC plans to drill 57 oil wells this year and another 107 in the next year.
The prime minister informed the OGDC that in pursuance of the government's strategy to further develop energy resources, it should aggressively market itself, bring in latest technology and use all the resources at its disposal to increase oil and gas production in the country.
Shaukat said with the increase in demand for energy owing to a growing economy, the role of OGDC has become all the more critical in beefing up government's efforts to expand, explore and enhance energy resources.
He also asked the OGDC to develop proven reserves in Uch, Qadirpur and Sinjhiro on fast track basis so that these resources could be utilised as early as possible.
Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Energy Mukhtar Ahmad, OGDC representative and senior officials of the government attended the presentation.
