Pakistan and Germany on Tuesday signed an agreement to provide transit facility to German goods to reach Afghanistan for the international security assistance forces deployed in the war-ravaged country. The agreement was signed by foreign minister Khurshid Mehmud Kasuri and his German counterpart Joschka Fischer.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz also attended the signing ceremony. Earlier, the German foreign minister met Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and discussed bilateral, regional and international issues with him. The Prime Minister, discussing the Pak-India relations, said any solution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute would only be acceptable if wishes of the Kashmiri people are taken into consideration.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan is having good relations with India and the composite dialogue process coupled with confidence-building measures is progressing well.

While discussing the situation in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister told the German foreign minister that a strong and stable Afghanistan is in the interest of neighbouring countries as well as the world community.

Shaukat Aziz said Pakistan is committed to the war against terrorism and would continue to fight it. Pakistan is a peace-loving country and Islam is a religion of peace.

He stressed that the world should work hard for interfaith harmony.
