As usual the Press is blamed for the confusion generated by conflicting signals from different headline hunters in an unwieldy government set-up, which has taken all that long to make up its mind.
Once the election schedule is announced, it will be immaterial whether the press misread some signals - no postponement - attaching more weight to where they issued from and less to the practical difficulties seen by the others.
The focus of the babel watchers will henceforth shift to the prospects of various contenders and the decision-makers' preferences. More noise is guaranteed, and the more difficult it will be to sift the authentic signals and read them correctly.
