Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Sunday that his government attached "great value" to improving bilateral relations with Pakistan and pursuing bold economic reforms. Singh's ruling Congress Party-led coalition marked one year in office on Sunday with low-key celebrations, including the release of a 42-page government "report card." "The government attaches great value to peace and prosperity in South Asia and to increasing cooperation both in economic and security spheres with all neighbours," said the document.
It added that meetings between Singh and President Pervez Musharraf had helped propel the bilateral relationship "significantly forward."
Singh's bright spot in the past year has been foreign policy, including with nuclear-rival Pakistan.
Singh has moved decisively to settle the almost 60-year dispute with Pakistan over Kashmir and the warming of ties saw Musharraf visit New Delhi in April to watch an India-Pakistan cricket match and talk peace.
