A five-member US defence delegation led by Lieutenant General Jeffrey B. Koh1er, Director of Defence Security Co-operation Agency (DSCA), called on Secretary Defence, Lieutenant General Tariq Waseem Ghazi (Retd) and discussed with him matters pertaining to the defence co-operation between the two countries on Thursday. The Secretary welcomed the delegation and expressed the hope that the revitalisation of relations between Pakistan and the US would tremendously benefit both sides.

He apprised the delegation of the defence requirements of Pakistan and asked Lieutenant General Kohler to expedite the pending cases lying with the United States.

The DSCA Director congratulated Tariq Waseem Ghazi on the assumption of the charge as Secretary Defence and said that his country was particular to the defence requirements of Pakistan and efforts would be made to expedite the matter.

Both sides underlined the need for further expansion and strengthening of relationship, as wider scope of co-operation existed between the two countries in different areas.

Co-operation in the field of training, education and courses for the armed forces of Pakistan also came under discussion and the US side assured its support in these areas.

US ambassador to Pakistan, Ryan C. Crocker was also present during the meeting.

The US defence delegation also called on Secretary Defence Production, Lieutenant General Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai (Retd) and discussed with him matters of mutual interest.

The Secretary Defence Production also told the delegation that the benefits of Non-Nato Ally status to Pakistan by the United States should be seen in the form of visible delivery of defence equipment.
