He said it was a real struggle against the crippling disease to save humanity from disability and we must do our best to eradicate the polio disease at any cost.
The meeting also decided to build awareness among the public by organising an anti polio walk through Health Department, Larkana, to be held from March 1 to 3.
In this regard, it was decided that the walk will be held from old DHO Office Larkana on February 28 at 10.00 am.
The DCO called upon the officers of Health department to ensure that the mobile teams visit door to door in remote areas of the district so that every child under 5-year age is given Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV).
On the occasion the executive district officer (Health) Larkana informed the meeting that in all 1,157 mobile teams have been set up so that the target of 529,002 vaccinations may be achieved. In this connection all arrangements have been finalised.
The representative of World Health Organisation (WHO) also highlighted the importance of anti-polio campaign and said the campaign will be supervised/ monitored in letter and spirit so that not a single child is missed from Oral Polio Vaccines (drops).
He also pointed out that he had received some complaints regarding sale of outdated/ expired medicines at medical stores.
He directed that notices may be issued in this regard as well as a committee under the chairmanship of District Officer (DO- Co-ordination) Larkana, Deedar Hussain Baloch be constituted through which the Health department, after verification would take necessary action against such medical stores as well as the practice of operating unregistered blood laboratories without delay.
The DCO also informed the meeting that a three-day free medical camp will be arranged in the month of March-2005 with the collaboration of GOC Pano Akil Garrison.
In this regard a site will be selected and verified so that the poor masses may be provided free treatment at their doorstep.
