Free medicines were provided to patients in the camp, which was first of its kind in the area.
It has merit to mention here that Begum Shamim Iftikhar has also provided cash assistance to the tune of Rs 0.1 million to the society in this respect.
Begum Shamim Iftikhar, who is also the chairperson of the Best (Basic Education and Skill Development); a non- governmental organisation, working quite successfully in Kohat District for the last two years; in fact actively participating in the social welfare activities.
Talking briefly on the occasion she said that more camps of similar nature would also be arranged, keeping in view the pressing needs of the people.
She welcomed the selfless services and devoted spirit of the doctors as well as the students, which they have been rendering by holding the free medical camps.
She said, unfortunately the people of the area are facing enormous problems with regard to healthcare services and with the holding of the camp, apart from provision of treatment facilities of immediate nature; diagnostic facilities have also become possible.
She also expressed the confidence that the society would continue its mission with the same zeal and spirit in future as well.
Begum Governor also went round the camp and enquired about the healthcare services, provided during the camp.
She also thanked the doctors and the students for their co-operation and assistance in making the holding of the camp possible.
Meanwhile, the medical specialists, who also managed biopsy and diagnostic tests to determine the nature of diseases, suffered by the visitors of the camp, were of the view that most of the patients were under- nourished and confronted with such diseases which had been developed because of malnutrition, lack of clean water and living in unhygienic conditions.
The inadequate transport facilities in the area, it was added, were further multiplying their miseries.
According to the diagnostic findings most of the patients have been found suffering from Hepatitis B and C.
Well know physician Dr Fazal Ahmad, under whose supervision the camp was managed, was of the view that the distinguishing feature of the camp was that record number of specialist doctors participated in the camp.
Apart from the treatment facilities, he added, health education has also been provided to the visitors of the camp.
