Provincial government has agreed to provide sufficient funds for the sanitation projects in Rawalpindi and Tehsil government would launch projects soon, said Hamid Nawaz Raja, Tehsil Nazim here on Tuesday. "It is top priority of the government to kick off the projects for sanitation in the city in order to maintain the environmental standards and provide better facilities to people", Hamid said while talking to reporters.

He said the sanitation projects would also be launched in suburban areas of Rawalpindi City and rural areas for the preservation of environment. "Provincial Minister Basharat Raja has assured the Tehsil government for grant and also assured that sufficient funds would be provided by provincial government for these projects", he added.

Hamid Nawaz, who is also Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), said that TMA would launch a massive operation against the encroachments particularly on Nullahs causing problems in sanitation. He directed the building department of Tehsil municipality to hold a complete survey of the area to point out the encroachments. "Notices should be served to encroachers to dismantle their encroaches in a limited time, otherwise after that a massive operation would be launched", he added.

Meanwhile, Hamid Nawaz praised the efforts made by peace committees in maintaining peace in Rawalpindi during Ashura.
