An accountability court on Tuesday adjourned proceedings till March 5 in a reference against acting president PML-N Javed Hashmi, after recording the statements of two prosecution witnesses. The court also called three more prosecution witnesses for recording their statements on next date of hearing and rose for the day. The accused has been facing the charges of corruption and making illegal assets in excess of his income.

After appearing before the court, Javed Hashmi told newsmen that his party would continue its struggle against the dictator. He said that present government is taking steps against the sovereignty of the country. He said that the government instead of resolving the national issues with consensus is taking hard and fast decisions, which is against the national interests.

Commenting on situation in Balochistan, he said that military operation there is against the national interests.

To another query, he said that he would follow the instructions of Nawaz Sharif in letter and spirit.

Khawaja Saad Rafiq said on occasion said that PML-N leadership is not following the instructions of party chief. He said that sincere party activists would not allow any body to divide the party.

PETITION ABOUT NATIONAL FLAG: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday put off proceedings till March 10, in a petition against misuse of national flag for final arguments.

Earlier the petitioner, M.D. Tahir contended that national flag is being used by different institutions and personalities illegally and without lawful authority.

The law officer appeared before the court and contended that the government officials did not misuse the national flag.

The court adjourned the proceedings till next date of hearing for final arguments and rose for the day.
