City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan has, under section 144 Cr.P.C, ordered all milk sellers (wholesalers and retailers) to refrain from selling milk at price higher than the price officially notified within the limits of City District Karachi, with immediate effect for a period of seven days. The order was issued in view of reports that milk was being sold at a higher price at Rs 28-30 per litre against the officially notified price of Rs 22 per litre.

He noted that this illegal price hike of milk was causing unrest in public and creating public nuisance and likely to cause serious breach of public peace and tranquillity as there were sporadic instances of brawl and quarrel between milk sellers and consumers in different parts of the city.

Naimatullah Khan said he was satisfied and convinced that unless such trend of selling of milk at higher price was controlled and prevented immediately, serious breach of peace and threat to public life, property and tranquillity may occur.
