Underlining the importance of regional co-operation, Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi on Tuesday favoured formation of a pan-Asian organisation to foster co-operation between nations in the region. "It is an interesting proposal to have an Asian body for regional co-operation. The Africans have done it, the Europeans have done so, and are quite successful", Kharrazi said during an interaction after delivering a lecture on Indo-Iranian relations here.
Billing regional co-operation a delicate issue, the minister said: "We believe that in West Asia, there should be such an economic body - a move towards a West Asian Economic bloc would be great", adding only regional co-operation can bring peace and tranquillity to the region.
The visiting Iranian foreign minister said more co-operation was required between developing nations on issues of UN reforms and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty review conference.
