Pakistan Kisan Movement (PKM) has demanded of the Chief Minister, Punjab, Chaudhry, Pervez Elahi to direct the Irrigation department to immediately release water for the sugarcane crop in the province. He was presiding over a meeting of growers here on Monday. The meeting noted that the Irrigation department, which was due to release irrigation water from February 15 till March 15, has not so far released water in the canals.

Speaking on the occasion, PKM Chief Hanif Gujjar, while expressing concern over non-availability of water, has urged the Chief Minister to take notice of the situation and hold accountable to the responsible irrigation officials.
