Inspector General of Police NWFP Muhammad Raffat Pasha has appreciated every segment of society for their sincere efforts in maintaining peace and ensuring sectarian harmony during Muharram and peaceful observance of Ashura. Talking to members of Peshawar Markazi Amn Committee, Muttahida Amn Committee, religious scholars, traders, journalists, elite of city, police officers at Central Command Post, Kohati Gate Peshawar on Sunday night.

District Nazim Peshawar Azam Afridi, Chief Capital Police Officer Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman, SSP Peshawar Abid Ali, members of Muttahida Amn Committee, large number of elite and ranking police officers were present on this occasion.

IGP especially thanked the NWFP Chief Minister Muhammad Akram Khan Durrani and expressed gratitude to members Provincial Assembly, government departments and other organisations for their co-operation. Police chief particularly lauded the police force duly supported by Frontier Corps and Frontier Constabulary.

He also acknowledged the role of Ulema (religious scholars) of all sects who maintained sanctity of Muharram and feelings of Muslim brotherhood by preaching unity, mutual tolerance and coherence and their practical help and co-operation extended to the police force and local administration.

District Nazim Peshawar Azam Afridi also commended the valuable role of frontier police and other law enforcing agencies for maintenance of peace, which he said, restored the traditional peaceful atmosphere of Peshawar.
