Egypt's main government wheat buyer said on Friday it was seeking 30,000 tonnes to 60,000 tonnes of wheat for March 20-31 shipment. GASC was seeking offers from the United States, France, U.K., Canada, Australia, Argentina, Russia and Syria. It was the first time GASC had sought to buy British wheat. GASC was seeking US soft white wheat, hard red winter wheat and soft red winter wheat, French milling wheat, UK milling wheat, Canadian wheat, Australian standard white wheat and hard wheat, Argentine bread wheat, Russian wheat and Syrian soft wheat.

The deadline for offers was noon (1000 GMT) Saturday, said Mahmoud Abdel-Hamid, vice-chairman of the General Authority for Supply Commodities. Results will be announced after 3 pm local time (1300 GMT) on Saturday.
