Zuljinnah, Alam and Ta'zia processions will be taken out in all cities and towns across the country that, after passing through their traditional routes, will culminate at the main Imambargahs. Other Zuljinnah, Alam and Ta'zia processions coming from different areas of the respective cities will merge in the main processions to terminate after reaching their destinations.
Thousands of mourners will walk in the processions and express their grief by wailing and beating their chests with hands and iron chains.
Water and milk stalls will be set up, in stark contrast to the situation of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who were denied even a drop of water by their heartless enemies.
Zakir, Na'atkhawan and religious scholars will highlight the significance of the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (God be pleased with him) and his companions who laid down their lives for supremacy of justice and righteousness.
Electronic media will present special programmes to highlight the supreme sacrifice, while newspapers will publish special supplements on the occasion.
The Federal Government has already declared public holidays on 9th and 10th of Muharram (February 19 and 22) to help observe the day with reverence.
In Lahore, the main Zuljinnah procession, after passing through its traditional route, will terminate at Karbala Gamay Shah on Sunday night. Small processions of Zuljinnah, Alam and Ta'zia, which will emerge from other parts of the city-Islampura, Shadman, Wassanpura and Ravi road, will join the main procession. Hundreds of Majalis will also be held in different parts of the city where Zakireen will highlight the great sacrifices.
The City District Government Lahore and Punjab Government have adopted elaborate steps to provide security to the mourners. As a security measure, the administration has banned watching of processions from the rooftops. Besides, mobile dispensary units will be available to provide first aid to the mourners.
Sham-e-Ghareebaan Majalis will also be held in which the faithful will express grief at the treatment meted out to Hazrat Imam Hussain (God be pleased with him) and his relatives and companions.
Hundreds of police personnel and members of elite forces have been deployed all-over Pakistan at Imambargahs and mosques to prevent any untoward incident. Various volunteer organisations and scouts will also be deployed along the mourning processions.
Moreover, religious scholars in various Majalis and Mahafil, held here, on Saturday stressed the need for tolerance, harmony, peaceful coexistence and unity in the Muslim Ummah. They highlighted the significance of the day when Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and his companions laid their lives for the cause of Islam and set a glaring example for the followers not to bow before the tyrants.
