Federal government offices, banks and all federal institutions as also multinational companies will work on Monday while at the provincial level it is a holiday as declared by the Sindh Chief Minister. The consular missions in Karachi will function on Monday as also the Karachi Port and Port Qasim. Many businessmen and industrialists feel that the provincial holiday declared on February 21, 2005 was done by the provincial government without consultation with the trade and industry representatives.

They said too many local holidays affect production and economic progress.
