Constant snowfall has broken all previous records in Northern Areas, Abbotabad and Gallyat, while Margalla hills in Islamabad also received blizzard. Margalla hills in Islamabad received snowfall for the third time of the current winter on Saturday morning causing new spell of intense cold in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Murree received two feet more snow on Friday night setting new highest record of 16 feet at the hill station, a private TV channel reported.

Met department has forecast that the current cold spell in the country will continue for another two days. The country facing chilly winds and will remain under the cool wave for two more days, Met experts said.

Kashmir and Northern Areas received three feet and Murree and Gallyat two feet more snow last night. Murree has received record 16 feet snow in this season, which is the highest record.

Muzaffarabad, Abbotabad and adjacent areas also received some snow.

Islamabad and Rawalpindi received downpour with 25 and 24 millimeters rain respectively. Other parts of Punjab including Gujranwala and Sargodha received 13 mm and Lahore 9 mm rain.

Balochistan and Sindh areas facing harsh cool winds as the mercury dropped to minus 11 in Kalat and minus 9 in Quetta.

Met department has forecast more snowfall during next 24 hours in Kashmir, Northern Areas, Murree and Gallyat, while scattered rains in parts of upper Punjab.
