Philippine millers are scheduled to sell 15,000 tonnes of raw sugar on Friday for export, James Leeds, administrator of the Sugar Regulatory Administration, said on Thursday. Leeds said the sugar, which is expected to be exported to other Asian countries, was for shipment no later than March 31. The planned sale would bring to 130,000 tonnes the volume of raw sugar the country has sold since August last year to reduce excess stocks and prevents domestic prices from sliding.

The Philippines, which sold sugar in Asia for the first time in a decade in 2004, plans to export a total of 215,000 tonnes of the sweetener in the region in the current crop year ending August.
