The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) signed a major contract worth dollars 72 million with the Siemens Pakistan Engineering Limited (SPEL) for the construction of six 132/11kV sub-stations on the sidelines of seventh Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2005). An official of the Siemens said here on Thursday those sub-stations would enhance the transmission capacity of DEWA in the old areas as well as newly planned areas such as Ras Deira, AL Fahidi, Dubai Land, Dubai Health Care City, Dragon Mall and Garden of Paradise. These projects will complete in 2006.

It said the contract was signed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA His Excellency Saeed Al-Tayer and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SPEL Sohail Wajahat Siddiqui.

Siemens CEO Gerhard Wilcke, SPEL Executive Director Muhammad Ilyas and General Manager Suhail Anwer also attended the contract signing ceremony. Director Business Administration High Voltage Substation Business in Siemens AG- Joachim Hyle was also present on the occasion.
