The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Thursday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Arabian Sights Ltd UK in a bid to improve international trade, commerce and economic relations. The Arabian Sights UK Chairman Dr Ghulam Sarwar Choudhry signed the agreement on behalf of Arabian Sights, while LCCI vice-president Sheikh Muhammad Arshad represented the LCCI.

The Arabian Sights has planned to take a 50-member trade delegation to Iran on May 15. The delegation will stay in Iran for three weeks and hold exhibitions of Pakistani products in three different cities. As per agreement, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) will bear half of the expenses, while the remaining amount will be borne by the delegation members.

As per agreement, both LCCI and Arabian Sights will work for improving international trade. Both the organisations would help each other in exchange of trade and market information on goods and services, respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Arshad said the step had been taken to promote the business of small traders who, generally, lack information. He said the LCCI had always played an active role for the promotion of trade adding a little help could multiply the export target set by the present government and only those would be able to reap the benefits who would take initiative.

Earlier, the Arabian Sights Project Director gave a detailed presentation to the participants about the prospects of the trade caravan.

LCCI Executive Member Mian Shafqat Ali and LCCI Standing Committee Convenor on Exports Tahir Javed Malik also spoke on the occasion.
