Former Prime Minister and chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Benazir Bhutto has welcomed the India - Pakistan accord on the resumption of Srinagar Muzaffarabad bus service and described it as a mean of further increase in goodwill between India and Pakistan. Making her comments on the accord, Benazir congratulated the Kashmiris residing along the both sides of line of control (LoC) on the commencement of bus service. She said it would enable the Kashmiris residing in both parts of Kashmir to meet each other.
The whole Kashmir's population had dispersed after the partition of India.

The commencement of bus service would provide them opportunities to meet their relatives. She added the move, which had been taken on confidence building, was a historic one.

Benazir said close economic ties between nations left no room for war between them.

A war always resulted in bloodshed and destroyed cities, industries, and irrigation system. War always caused great destruction. It also increased poverty, she said.

Benazir Bhutto further said she was very happy on behalf of Pakistan Peoples Party because they were trying to go ahead under the confidence building measures (CBMs).

The bus service, she hoped, would help in promoting the people to people contacts Insha'allah adding when an agreement concluded with regard to gas pipeline it would also enable us to establish close economic ties.
