Relief operation has been geared up and up to Rs 20 million have been distributed amongst the injured and survivors of the dead ones. "Trucks of relief goods from cabinet division Islamabad, have been dispatched to Mansehra and Swat," said a report issued from the office of the relief commissioner. The relief goods include 2,000 blankets, 160 sleeping bags, 4,000 Kg atta, 1,000 Kg sugar, 1,000 Kg pulses and 60 Kg tea.
Meanwhile the NWFP chapter of the Red Crescent Society Pakistan has sent two trucks of relief goods for the victims of Swat and Mansehra. Similarly the Provincial Relief Commissioner Ghulam Farooq, on the directives of the chief minister has dispatched two trucks loaded with 500 bags each to the districts of Swat and Mansehra. Each bag consists of 20 Kg Atta, 5 Kg sugar, 2 Kg pulses, 200 gram tea and 2.5 Kg ghee.
Work on the opening of highways is in progress. Balakot to Paras road has been opened while NHA bulldozers are working day and night to open Paras to Naran road. Moreover, five bulldozers have started work to clear Behrain-Kalam Road.
Meanwhile, Provincial Relief Commissioner, Ghulam Farooq has strongly contradicted a news report published in an English National Daily which stated that Khanpur Dam water level reached to the alarming line.
Relief commissioner said that he had talked to the Director Khanpur Dam Jamilur Rehman and he stated that water level was still below the alarming position and the dam authorities were fully capably to meet any emergent situation. He assured residents of the area not to be worried about and categorically dispelled the information created in the section of press.
