President George W. Bush on Tuesday issued a presidential determination, granting waiver to Pakistan which, pertains to democracy-related provisions of any enactment. The waiver has been granted on "Foreign Operations, Export Financing and Related Programmes Appropriations Act, 2005, with respect to Pakistan," says a signed memorandum for the Secretary of State. The presidential determination stated that the action "would facilitate the transition to democratic rule in Pakistan," and also added that it was "important to the United States efforts to respond to, deter, or prevent acts of international terrorism."

President Bush has "authorised and directed" the Secretary of State to transmit this determination to the Congress and arrange its publication in the Federal Register.
