Top seed Vince Spadea survived a second-round scare from Russian qualifier Teimuraz Gabashvili on Wednesday before advancing to the quarter-finals of the rain-plagued Millennium International ATP tennis tournament. Spadea rallied to beat the 19-year-old 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in a rain-disrupted match. Spadea, who lost to Brazilian Ricardo Mello in the final here last year, captured his first career title in Scottsdale, Arizona.
