The tragic situation which arose due to the violent Tsunami tidal waves about one month ago has pointed towards a new dimension for us to look at our life. Apart from that, this disaster provided us with the dynamism and spirit to build a new country. What we have to do at present is to utilise this strong power bestowed on us and rebuild the country with unprecedented vigour never witnessed in our history.
During the Tsunami disaster thousands of our relatives and colleagues left us for ever. We must pay our highest respectful homage to them to the best of our ability. The best way of achieving this end is to set aside all our political, communal, religious, caste and tribal differences and work together hand in hand in the task of making our motherland a better land for tomorrow.
We have cut the first sod in buildings new country. Our foreign friends along with our people have come together in this effort. We will build a new country with the help of this enormous power. We will build a country which will never shed tears in future. We will make this horrendous disaster a foundation of a new era of our country.
Let us determine on this Independence Day to build a new country where democracy dominates with pleasure, prosperity and peace realising the political, economic and social freedom in its true spirit.
