Meteorological Department Director General (DG) Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman on Thursday said another rain and snowfall spell was expected in Northern Areas, Kashmir, NWFP and Balochistan during next 24 hours. Talking to PTV, he said light rain and snowfall were already pouring in Northern Areas. He said rainfall was also expected in Northern Punjab and Islamabad during next 24 hours. The rain would continue in Punjab for about six to seven days, the DG Met forecast.

To a question, the DG said rain and snowfall started in the Northern Areas would get momentum in couple of days.

Replying to a question, Dr Qamar said the rains in the country would have positive effects on wheat and other Rabi crops.

He said previous and ongoing rain and snowfall spells would increase availability of water in rivers and dams.
