The newly elected OIC Secretary General urged the Muslim Ummah to equip themselves with modern education to fill the wider economic and knowledge gap.
He also sought joint venture of the Ummah to combat poverty, illiteracy and extremism from the Muslim world to bring them to the mainstream of development.
Dr Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said that Islamic countries would have to transform their professions from traditional to modern lines for competing with the advanced societies.
The OIC secretary general pointed out that extremism among Muslims has been major factor halting the smooth socio-economic development.
Defending the movements in Islamic countries, he said that political movements should not be associated with the fundamentalism.
Dr Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said that the OIC would look forward to efforts and help from Pakistan to undermine the ongoing issues confronting to Muslims.
To a question, he said that the OIC would be no more a dead horse and would be active with new enlightened policies.
Dr Ekmeleddin said that the reforms have already been started in the OIC by electing the secretary general through democratic ways, adding the organisation would be more active and dynamic in the future.
He appreciated the art calligraphy of Pakistan placed in the National Museum.
State Minister for culture, support and youth affairs, Senator Mohammad Ali Durrani thanked the guest for visiting Pakistan after assuming the important office.
"The enlightened policies, which have been presented by President Musharraf to the OIC would be fruitful for the Muslim Ummah, the minister added.
